Jane’s Walk 2012

Explore Leaside’s Places of Worship

Sunday May 6, 2012  •  1.30pm

Places of worship are celebrated and respected as spiritual centres, but they also serve as community service centres, and often as enduring landmarks.

Leaside has seven places of worship, all actively engaged in mission and service. We will visit five churches from four Christian denominations which are located within walking distance of Bayview Avenue.

We will learn about the cultural heritage values and also the changing spiritual values, and how the changes affect and are affected by the ongoing life of the community.

TIME: Sunday May 6th 2012 1.30 - 4pm
START Location: St Augustine of Canterbury Church, 1847 Bayview Avenue (at Broadway Ave.). Two blocks north of Eglinton
END Location: St Cuthbert’s Church, 1399 Bayview Ave. (at St Cuthbert’s Road)

By TTC:
From Eglinton subway station - Eglinton 34, Lawrence 54, Leaside 56, Leslie 51, Flemingdon 100
From Davisville subway station. Bayview 11 runs every 10 minutes or so on Sunday.

TREB Housing Market Charts - March 2012

Tight Market Drives Double-Digit Price Growth

April 4, 2012, TORONTO -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 9,690 sales through the TorontoMLS system in March 2012. This result was up by almost eight per cent in comparison to the 8,986 deals reported during the same period in 2011.

“The GTA resale market has not suffered from a lack of willing buyers this year. Buyers have been spurred on by the positive affordability picture brought about by low mortgage rates,” said Toronto Real Estate Board President Richard Silver.

“The challenge has been a lack of inventory. Many listings have attracted multiple interested buyers. Strong competition has led to annual rates of price growth well above the long-term average.”

The average selling price in the GTA was $504,117 in March – up by 10.5 per cent in comparison to March 2011.

“The number of new listings was up last month in comparison to March 2011.

However, based on the historic relationship between price and listings, the GTA resale market should be better supplied. If competition between buyers remains as strong as it is right now, we will almost certainly see an average selling price above $500,000 for 2012 as a whole,” said Jason Mercer, TREB’s Senior Manager of Market Analysis.
